Favorite athlete when you were 10?
There was a question on the @TwitterSports handle this morning asking a question most sports fans can answer without hesitation: (Who was) your favorite athlete when you were 10(?)
My answer: Steve Largent. More than any athlete growing up, I wanted to be Largent. I wanted to play for the Seahawks and wear No. 80. I wanted to catch passes from the next Jim Zorn and Dave Krieg.
I had his poster on my wall growing up and I even wore a Seahawks costume for Halloween one year, stuffing my jersey with shirts to make it look like I was wearing shoulder pads.
While Largent was my first favorite athlete, Ken Griffey Jr. quickly caught up, so much so I named my dog, Griffey.
With Twitter providing the opportunity to think back on childhood heroes and memories, it only seemed fitting to pay it forward.
