Washington faced Maryland in the inaugural Aloha Bowl in 1982, marking their fourth consecutive bowl game and fifth bowl in six seasons. The Huskies faced Maryland on Christmas Day, led by a young Boomer Esiason. Special teams made the difference in this game, with the Terps missing an extra point and a field goal, and the Huskies won by one point, 21-20.
